Early childhood education quality improvement project based on Xunhua County, Haidong City, Qinghai Province, held by Haidong?Tsongkha Charitable Association (TCA), has been designed for 5 kindergartens in Xunhua County, Haidong City, Qinghai Province.

Xunhua County, located in the eastern part of Qinghai Province, is the only Salar Autonomous County in China, as well as one of state-level poverty-stricken counties and the key supported small autonomous counties by the government. As an education resource underprivileged place, the early childhood education in Xunhua has lots of special difficulties and problems: firstly, the limitation of parenting education for children before entering the kindergarten leds to poor child development ability. Secondly, because of the dialect in Xunhua are Salar language and Tibetan language, children almost did not have opportunity to listen and talk in Chinese. This situation makes the children cannot adapt the Chinese teaching just after they begun study. In addition to that, the Chinese textbooks and the teaching methods are not designed for children using Chinese as the second language, so children here do not have good language development, and this limits the whole development of children. Thirdly, the teacher in kindergartens here do not have good theory of early childhood education. They teach and manage children as children in primary schools because of the limited teacher qualification and the lack of professional training, so the teachers have to improve their teaching method, teaching theory as well as their teaching ability. Fourthly, there are too many old teachers and the ratio of teacher-child is low there in Xunhua. All the problems and difficulties require new development preschool teachers training methods in Xunhua.

This project introduces early childhood reading courses focusing early childhood linguistic ability and art courses. It also provides observational learning in advanced areas, training, one-on-one guidance, public classes and regional teaching research, in order to help teachers to know recent early childhood education theory and master how to teach reading courses and art courses, and operate teaching research in their own kindergartens, which should be helpful for the improvement of children linguistic ability.

Tongchai provided support for textbooks, essential teaching equipments, observational learning in advanced areas, training, one-on-one guidance, public classes and regional teaching research, kindergarten environment design, project management fee.
